Summary

From the breathtaking beaches of Thailand to the barely tamed wilds of colonial Australia, The Pearl Sister is the next captivating story in New York Times bestselling author Lucinda Riley’s epic series about two women searching for a place to call home。

CeCe D’Aplièse has always felt like an outcast。 But following the death of her father—the reclusive billionaire affectionately called Pa Salt by the six daughters he adopted from around the globe—she finds herself more alone than ever。 With nothing left to lose, CeCe delves into the mystery of her familial origins。 The only clues she holds are a black and white photograph and the name of a female pioneer who once traversed the globe from Scotland to Australia。

One hundred years earlier, Kitty McBride, a clergyman's daughter, abandoned her conservative upbringing to serve as the companion to a wealthy woman traveling from Edinburgh to Adelaide。 Her ticket to a new land brings the adventure she dreamed of…and a love that she had never imagined。

When CeCe reaches the searing heat and dusty plains of the Red Centre of Australia, something deep within her responds to the energy of the area and the ancient culture of the Aboriginal people, and her soul reawakens。 As she comes closer to finding the truth of her ancestry, CeCe begins to believe that this untamed, vast continent could offer her what she’s always yearned for: a sense of belonging。

Started off really well, enjoyed it and read steadily。 About halfway through it lost its appeal and became too depressing but I finished it anyway just to see what happened。 Obligatory gay romance, of course, as no book can be written these days without it。 Sigh。 This was the first book I've read of the seven sisters and it will be the last。 Started off really well, enjoyed it and read steadily。 About halfway through it lost its appeal and became too depressing but I finished it anyway just to see what happened。 Obligatory gay romance, of course, as no book can be written these days without it。 Sigh。 This was the first book I've read of the seven sisters and it will be the last。 。。。more

As I am midway through this book my sister announced that they are leaving for Australia in 2 months time。 Suddenly the book had even more value。 The story of family - lost and found, sisterhood and exploration resonated very well with me。 Loved this book just as much as the others in the series。

Until now The Storm Sister was my favorite, but oh my, this one was literally an emotional roller coaster。 And becomes by far my favorite of The Seven Sisters series。I LOVED the aboriginal history as I know very little of it。 And I think is one of the first time we read something about the story of the seven sisters。 The romances, the broken hearts, so many lost souls。 I also really enjoyed that the parts were much shorter between the past and the present。 So until now, the 2 first books are lin Until now The Storm Sister was my favorite, but oh my, this one was literally an emotional roller coaster。 And becomes by far my favorite of The Seven Sisters series。I LOVED the aboriginal history as I know very little of it。 And I think is one of the first time we read something about the story of the seven sisters。 The romances, the broken hearts, so many lost souls。 I also really enjoyed that the parts were much shorter between the past and the present。 So until now, the 2 first books are linked somehow to Paris。 Book 3 and 4 would be linked in London。 Let’s see what the 2 last books are about。 。。。more

。。。more

。。。more

This was the first book I read from the Seven Sister series。 At the time, I had no idea it was a book from a series。 And as I kept reading it, I was so hinged to the book。 I loved how the author shifts from past to present and gives you some ideas about the future。

。。。more

。。。more

Interesting and fun novel, back and forth story of present and past - good depiction of aboriginal life and treatment in Australia。

Another amazing story from Lucinda Riley。 CeeCee sets out to learn where she came from, and her journey takes her to Australia。 A fascinating history unfolds as we learn of her Aboriginal roots。 As usual with the sister books, nothing is ever straight forward, as we move between the past and the present day。 I really enjoyed the well written characters and appreciated the depth of research involved in this amazing story。 I've immediately moved on to the next story。 Another amazing story from Lucinda Riley。 CeeCee sets out to learn where she came from, and her journey takes her to Australia。 A fascinating history unfolds as we learn of her Aboriginal roots。 As usual with the sister books, nothing is ever straight forward, as we move between the past and the present day。 I really enjoyed the well written characters and appreciated the depth of research involved in this amazing story。 I've immediately moved on to the next story。 。。。more

Thoroughly enjoyed this book the most in the series so far!! Made me miss my old town in outback Australia so much, held a lot of emotion and such beautiful character development by both Cece and Kitty。 Even you don’t read the other books I still think this one is good as a stand alone!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I love Lucinda Riley and this series but to me this was the weakest so far。 What spoiled the book for me was Cece's relationship with Chrissie。 Chrissie is written as an opportunist and Cece is rightly suspicious of her。 However Chrissie then declares her love for Cece and within 24 hours Cece is thinking that Chrissie is the love of her life (even though she has previously not shown any affection for her sex nor did she consider even that Chrissie is attractive)。 I feel that there is some nod t I love Lucinda Riley and this series but to me this was the weakest so far。 What spoiled the book for me was Cece's relationship with Chrissie。 Chrissie is written as an opportunist and Cece is rightly suspicious of her。 However Chrissie then declares her love for Cece and within 24 hours Cece is thinking that Chrissie is the love of her life (even though she has previously not shown any affection for her sex nor did she consider even that Chrissie is attractive)。 I feel that there is some nod to having to include a sister who is bi or homosexual in the series with no justification in this story。 。。。more

Book 4 of The Seven Sisters has CeCe as the daughter who goes on a journey to find her biological family。 I enjoyed the story and had the plot figured out。 The author did a great job switching from present day and the early 1900's。 At times I found the book to "wordy", which made it boring。 The parts of the book that took place in Thailand, while I understand what the author was doing, it just didi not feel like there was a good enough outcome。 I truly think the Thailand part of the book could h Book 4 of The Seven Sisters has CeCe as the daughter who goes on a journey to find her biological family。 I enjoyed the story and had the plot figured out。 The author did a great job switching from present day and the early 1900's。 At times I found the book to "wordy", which made it boring。 The parts of the book that took place in Thailand, while I understand what the author was doing, it just didi not feel like there was a good enough outcome。 I truly think the Thailand part of the book could have been written differently。 However, I am not the author and she felt that this part of the book had to have been written this way。 。。。more
